It has been amazingly gorgeous here in NYC, and I have been loving it!!!
The other day I was home working on a soon to be released new project(oh yeah!!) and it was beautiful and sunny outside.
I love what I do and love that I have the ability to create content, connect with you and truly am passionate about what I do… this day I was, quite frankly, getting cranky and po’d!
Why, you ask?
I had been sitting in my chair working on this project and could feel my body tensing up, and felt like I was spending the ENTIRE day in front of my computer! I was wasting a gorgeous day inside! I could have been in central park, taking a walk on the Highline, or being on a rooftop having a cocktail.
And the worst part was, I had no one else to blame, but myself!!!
Now, I hope this isn’t TMI for you, but the truth is, yup….I get cranky too! I get frustrated and feel like sitting on the couch all day watching reality tv. I lose motivation to workout too. Sometimes I eat junk food too (hello truffle fries!)
BUT, what I have learned is how to not live in that space for too long.
I allow myself to feel those feeling and to indulge from time to time, but I can’t LIVE there.
What I have found works best to truly create a BALANCED life, is to look at my life from a “BIG PICTURE” view.
So, ok, maybe today I ate something less than healthy…well I can always eat extra lean and green tomorrow. Or maybe I didn’t prioritize, and I didn’t workout today, ok fine, pick up tomorrow and make my workout just as important as any other appointment.
And I have learned that when I feel cranky, frustrated, tense and generally b.i.t.c.h.y that is my body telling me:
GET UP! MOVE! IT’S TIME TO WORKOUT!
It works like a charm, every time.
The hardest part is getting started, but once you get moving, about 10 minutes into your workout… wow! My mood is better. I find myself smiling. My general outlook on life is better.
Try it for yourself! When you feel cranky and just annoyed with the world, think of it as your body telling you:
It’s workout time!!!
So, if you’re REALLY feeling lazy and don’t want to get out of bed, I have a treat for you:
Do this workout, and you don’t even have to leave your bed…so what’s your excuse? 😉
