7. Choose your Booze Wisely!
You are a smarty pants, so make sure if you are going to drink alcohol that you choose wisely! Alcohol is 100% empty calories, and as you know, after a drink or two you may be feeling loose and suddenly you find yourself ordering Gnocchi with Gorgonzola….yikes! If you are going to drink, do it with moderation, of course! Also keep it simple and clean. Avoid the added calories from heavy and sugary mixers such as soda (unless it’s club soda), juice or any sort of creamy mixes or anything topped with whipped cream. To keep on track, your best bet is wine or something simple like a vodka and club soda. I am not advocating drinking, but if you must, use your noggin and stay away from the egg nog!
8. Hydrate yourself Honey!
Many times when you’re feeling hungry, the reality is: you are thirsty! Don’t down your cocktail, and drink some H2O! You don’t want to be adding on the extra pounds by eating when you’re not even hungry. A good rule to follow at a party is a glass of water or club soda with lemon after any alcoholic drink. You will be hydrated, not get sloppy, and be able to shine and enjoy your party and the next morning too! Now isn’t that better? 🙂
9. Be a Social!
How lucky you are to have invitations to events and parties! The point is to socialize not gluttonize! Enjoy yourself at the party, share conversations, and dance to burn those calories! Make sure that the focus is on your friends and the wonderful company you are enjoying, not gorging and throwing off all of your efforts. I love food, discovering new restaurants, and sharing with my friends. One of my favorite things is to order many dishes at a restaurant so that I can taste and try everything without going overboard and eating too much. There is no need for me to eat the WHOLE order of truffle macaroni and cheese, but I will certainly take a bite;) Enjoy the company first and foremost, and then the food will enhance your event….not add notches to your belt!
